In the Discovery Station and Craft Corner renovation, I put pretend and social play at the center of the experience. Rather than simply re-creating Conner Prairie’s existing grounds offerings for kids, we created engaging activities that are evocative of the outside areas. The idea was the bring the scale down while setting up conversation and exploration connections that pay off in the more historical areas. Natural materials, a saturated (but not overwhelming) color palette and a variety of micro and macro play has created an environment that member families enjoy spending hours in.
