Treetop Outpost has been the most challenging, complex project I’ve ever worked on.
It evolved naturally out of several initiatives percolating at Conner Prairie: interdisciplinary experiences, getting kids outside, expanding our visitable footprint and needing a “wow experience.” By stitching together history, nature education, active play, local artists and a sense of wonder, we created a 40’ tall, 4 story treehouse for all ages to explore. Aside from architecture and construction, all of the experiences were designed and/or fabricated by an small in-house team. I’m proud to say that visitors love it and it has contributed to a jump in young family attendance and memberships.
